Advocacy and Influence: Proposing a Salary Cap in Major League Baseball

As an avid follower of Major League Baseball for as long as I can remember, this issue holds a lot of importance to me, which is why I took the liberty of creating a simulated advocacy campaign that a third party advocacy firm could use to generate enough fan support for the implementation of a salary cap in MLB. This project was part of the coursework for COMM 745: Practicing Advocacy and Influence.

The goals of this project were to create a campaign that would introduce this issue to sports fans, producing enough publicity to sway public opinioin on this issue, along with influencing Major League Baseball to listen to what the viewers and fans want as opposed to their own self-interests.

The primary essential learning objectives this project demonstrates are theory application, as the presentation discusses communication theories such as agenda-setting theory and the elaboration likelihood model, and research methods, as the presentation discusses the Google Forms survey I created as a means of data collection.
